Common theme

You'll notice a common west coast theme in the spring/winter collection.  A lot of listening to old N.W.A, Eazy-E, and Ice Cube went on while designing the collection.  Now that I'm a bit older listening to the old "gangster rap", it makes more sense as to what young suburban skate kids, such as myself, found intriguing about the music.  The music was rebellious, it questioned authority, and was very much anti-establishment.  These were common themes as well, in the skate culture while I was growing up.  We didn't have many skate parks so we normally skated at court houses, libraries, and government buildings.  We'd get chased out regularly which brought a great disliking towards rules and authoritative figures.  The music possessed this same vibe and even though the stories were much different the underlying theme was the same.  N.W.A was a lot like the West Coast's P.E.
